This is the first of a two-volume history of Martin County, Indiana. In his preface the author states that researching and putting together this volume consumed all of his "non-working hours" for a period of seven years. Sources of information were limited and sometimes incomplete, and the stories told to the author by elderly citizens were often at variance with the recollections of others. This and the companion volume will prove to be an invaluable resource for anyone wanting information on the history of Martin County, Indiana.
